Joseph Chung

Joseph Chung is a practising Solicitor in Hong Kong and England & Wales. Joseph’s practice focuses on construction and arbitration. He is also a Solicitor Advocate having rights of audience up to the Court of Final Appeal in Hong Kong and is a registered foreign lawyer of the Singapore International Commercial Court. He was previously a Barrister until he became a Solicitor in 2001. He is also a fellow member of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
Joseph has extensive experience in all aspects of construction in both private and public sector work, advising developers, contractors, consultants and banks. He is the co-author of the Hong Kong version of one of the leading UK construction text “Emden’s Construction Law in Hong Kong”.
Joseph also sits as an Arbitrator. He is listed on the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre’s List of Arbitrators, Asian International Arbitration Centre’s Panel of Arbitrators and the Shanghai Arbitration Commission’s Panel of Arbitrators (Overseas).
Justin Mort QC

Justin Mort QC specialises in high value construction disputes with a particular interest in and expertise in energy, infrastructure and process engineering projects. His innumerable reported cases arising from court proceedings, particularly in the TCC, and the original and ingenious legal arguments that he has deployed in fighting them, together constitute a formidable contribution to the law governing construction claims, arbitration, adjudication and related topics.
He has lately worked on disputes arising from infrastructure and/or energy projects in the Middle East and North Africa (including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Algeria, Dubai), numerous European jurisdictions (including Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia), Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, the West Indies, the Falkland Islands, Venezuela and Zambia.
His practice is spread across the High Court (TCC and Commercial Court), international arbitration (including all of the principal institutional rules) and adjudication / dispute adjudication boards or their equivalent.

Ming Tai Yeung

YEUNG Ming-tai is both a practising barrister and a professional civil engineer. Mr. Yeung has considerable experience in preparation of contract documentation and in contract administration and handling claims by contractors in infrastructure, highways and earthworks projects. He has practised as a civil engineer for 11 years. He commenced his legal practice in 1989 and since then has been handling mainly construction and commercial litigation and arbitration as well as personal injury cases in construction projects. He has been advising his lay clients on various stages of construction and commercial projects, ranging from drafting of terms and conditions of contracts to resolution of disputes through mediation, arbitration or litigation.
He has been acting as a sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in more than 150 construction and commercial disputes. He is now listed in the HKIAC panel of arbitrators, the Hainan International Arbitration Court, the Bar Association panel of arbitrators and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers panel of arbitrators. He has also been appointed by the International Chambers of Commerce and the Chinese Arbitration Commission, Taipei as a co-arbitrator and Presiding Arbitrator respectively in international commercial arbitrations.

Phillip Rompotis

With nearly 30 years’ experience, Phillip practices as a barrister, arbitrator, mediator and adjudicator, with particular expertise in the construction and engineering industry, acting regularly for owners, developers, contractors and industry professionals in court, arbitral, adjudicatory and expert determination procedures. He has been involved, as adjudicator or counsel, in over 40 adjudication proceedings under Security of Payment legislation. Phillip is also an accredited mediator of the Victorian Bar, a Fellow of numerous international arbitration institutes including those in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, as well as a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Adjudicators. He is a Panel or List member of many arbitration institutes globally. Dr. Sivasangaran Nadarajah

Dr. Nadarajah brings hands on construction industry and engineering knowledge to practice, having worked as an Engineer before. He sees the commercial and practical risks and business drivers associated with construction and engineering projects and is able to leverage this to deliver solutions to complex issues.
At SIEMENS he implemented a novel wastewater treatment project and then at NCR he employed 4th generation programming language as a software programmer. As a consultant mechanical engineer, amongst others, he was in charge of the Mechanical Engineering Building Services for the largest building in Malaysia (Berjaya Times Square) - besides engineering complexities arising from the building’s huge size, he was involved in its project management through the challenges of the 1998 Asian Financial crisis.
He advises clients from procurement and structuring to negotiating and drafting contracts - and was involved in large construction/projects (preparing a suite of works contracts for infrastructure works, including for one of the largest projects in Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur Mass Rapid Transit rail system “MRT”; tenders for Power plants; etc.), IT and commercial, agreements.
He appears as counsel in dispute resolution matters (in litigation, arbitration and adjudication) and has acted as the sole arbiter in construction disputes, and, has delivered a final and binding Expert Determination for AIAC’s first such appointment (for an ad hoc matter) as well as several Adjudication Decisions.
